dapperQ Judging Mr. Transman 2010!

Quiz: What’s one of the best things to happen since I launched dapperQ in January? Murray Hill – the man who put the ‘yes’ in polyester – asked me to judge Mr. Transman 2010! Murray is an iconic NY-based performer now in his “fifth career comeback.” According to the New York Times, Murray is New York’s “reigning patriarch of downtown performance.” He’s also a helluva nice guy (pictured right with Dita Von Teese) who reached out as soon as he learned about dapperQ on the most current episode of Under the Pink Carpet (hosted by the very dapperQ Robin Cloud).

I was already going to cover the event – expect to hear tons about it here – but am thrilled to be part of this first-ever title event. I’m also thrilled to meet fella judges Kate Bornstein, one of the most important gender warriors I know, and Amos Mac, founder of Original Plumbing.

Tomorrow I’ll be offering my thoughts on what I’ll be looking for in the category of Evening Wear, and welcoming your feedback. The details follow below. Get your tickets now!

The evening will feature a competition of six diverse transmen contestants from the local community and west coast who will compete for the first-ever MR. TRANSMAN 2010 title in the following categories: PLATFORM, SWIMSUIT, REALNESS, TALENT, and EVENING WEAR. They will be judged by a panel of celebrated trans personalities. The winner will receive a cash prize, a photo spread in ORIGINAL PLUMBING ( the premier magazine dedicated to the sexuality and culture of FTM trans guys), a duffle bag of sex toys from BABELAND, 6-pack of Muscle Milk, 6-pack of muscle T’s, and an increased volume of phone numbers and emails from admirers of all persuasions.

Transgendered guest performers, bands, and DJs will be on deck for big night. Like all Murray Hill events, this event is open to everyone and all walks of life are encouraged to attend this openly queer night celebrating all gender representations. Not to mention, this will be one helluva blow-out, sexy, dance party and show! BE A PART OF HIS-TORY!
