Meet dapperQ’s Miss Lez Rep: LEA ROBINSON

If you’ve ever been lucky enough to catch the Miss Lez Pageant sponsored annually by Murray Hill, you know the competition is fierce.  Last year, contestants included several out and proud dapperQ’s including Ariel Speedwagon, Goldie Peacock and Drae Campbell who won the title.  This year, for the first time, we’ve got a horse in the race and a hottie in the house:  Lea Robinson.

I got to know Lea in the Victoria Libertore’s Butch Burlesque class and performance two years ago.  To my mind, she represents the best of dapperQ.  She’s handsome, generous, passionate and profoundly committed to personal authenticity.  I tapped her to model in our first Queer Country Music Fest fashion show and she served as “grasshopper” to Master Ariel Speedwagon in our wildly popular “How to Tie a Bowtie” video.

Here’s a 30-second video that gives you a taste of Lea if you haven’t met her.  I hope you will share it via your social networks not just because of the upcoming contest, but because it is a fun example of solidarity we are building with dapperQ.
The pageant is May 18 at Knitting Factory/Brooklyn so get your tix soon if you want to go.  It is an event that always sells out.  And if you  could wear a bowtie to show your love for Lea, that would be swell too.
