Finding fashion designers that create clothing to fit dapperQ bodies is a struggle. I’m often sent on a wild goose chase when searching Google for goods to recommend to our readers. I see something that looks promising, only to click on a link leading me to yet another company peddling logo t-shirts and claiming to be a non-gender conforming design house. Thus, it is not surprising that I was hesitant to click on a tweet we received yesterday stating, “Fashion line for women, @dapperq‘s and fashion rebels who could never find androgynous clothes that fit our bodies kck.st/M0iN9q.” But, I went down that rabbit hole…and guess what? I found TREASURE!
Androgynous, a new line that designs menswear inspired clothes made to fit masculine gender non-conformists, has started a Kickstarter campaign to raise cash for their project. I have to say that the images of their clothes are, thus far, very impressive. Designers A and Vee (real names, BTW) have a background in engineering and fashion design, respectively.
“But my biggest frustration of all – those two lines in the front of the shirt and the “cleavage” cut. And pockets that are not actual pockets….The designs we’ve come up with are not formfitting, don’t taper at the waist and hips, and there no darts where the chest is. Simply elegant, classy, clean-cut menswear made to fit women.” – Androgynous’ Kickstarter page
They have 19 more days to reach their Kickstarter goal and are about 45% of the way there. If you like what you see, consider supporting the project, lest you continue to be stuck in the boy’s section at Macy’s!
