Trending Now: Ready-to-Wear Mixed Media

As a first time writer for dapperQ (and, to be quite frank, in general), it took some time to choose a topic I wanted to share with all of you dapper folk out there. It occurred to me that my passion for fashion trends and finding adaptations to suit a range of varying tastes and stylistic presentations may be the most applicable and, hopefully, interesting thing I have in my arsenal.

The trend I’d like to discuss this time around is that of mixed media. Like its art industry counterpart, mixed media refers to combining distinctly different materials into one coherent piece. Popular, fashionable iterations include wool jackets with leather sleeves and velvet smoking jackets with satin lapels. Outerwear and blazers are two of my favorite mixed media pieces because of how easy they are to wear. Additionally, since there are tons of pieces readily available off the rack, both designed for a woman’s curves with menswear inspirations and designed for men with a “borrowed from the girls” perspective, these statement pieces make the mixed media trend an easy way to dapper up an outfit any way you’d like.

Pair it with jeans and a tee for a trendy twist on a casual outfit, or with slacks and a bow-tie for a sexy night out. Any way you style it, mixed media is a trend that can work for everyone and any style.

Here are a couple examples for inspiration, for you viewing pleasure. Happy trending

  • I saw the H&M Men’s Blazer in the H&M store about two months back, and really wanted to get it. I went back a week ago and it was no longer there. It’s not on their website either. Just my luck!
