Seven Days of Dapper: Ali Medina

dapperQ model Ali Medina was recently featured in our Fall 2014 He Said/We Said shoot. But, we wanted to take a closer look at Ali’s daily style and asked her to submit for our Seven Days of Dapper series with a week’s worth of her personal style, which is a well curated and interesting mix of classic, rock n’ roll, and normcore!

Here’s more:

I am a Brooklyn-based artist, teacher, and printmaker. I currently work as a Preschool Teacher at Saint Ann’s School located in Brooklyn Heights. During my spare time I enjoy running, skateboarding, modeling androgynous clothing and working at the Lower East Side Printshop. Check out my artwork at www.alimedinaart.com

Outfit 1: Work Outfit

I work as a teacher at Saint Ann’s Preschoo,l so I have to be able to dress casually and wear comfortable shoes. The Nike SB’s are great when I skateboard to work and if I have to run around a lot. The crewneck sweatshirt is so cozy, and also a classic vintage Knicks piece.

Outfit 2: Family Dinner

At family gatherings I like to dress semi formal, so a schoolboy blazer paired with some comfortable pants makes for a good outfit. I can dress it down by taking off my jacket, or dress it up with a dress shirt and some accessories like a pocket square and a lapel pin. The hat makes for a great piece in the fall and definitely keeps my ears warm!

Outfit 3: Interview

If I have an interview or an important meeting, I like to wear a classic black suit. The accents of color from the lapel pin and pocket square give a nice contrast to the black.

Outfit 4: Autumn Style

When it gets chilly in the fall I like to wear a jacket if I’m going out somewhere. The camel schoolboy blazer is a really nice layering piece and I like way it compliments the other pastel colors of my accessories.

Outfit 5: Date Night

When I’m going out to dinner with my girlfriend or some friends I like to dress semi-casual but still dressed up enough to go to a nice restaurant. The jeans from Topman are super comfortable and I love the acid wash. The J-crew Blazer is very light and the shade of blue goes great with a pair of jeans.

Outfit 6: Rainy Day

On a rainy day, I like to have lots of layers. A tee shirt with a button down and maybe a vest or a hoodie. The palladium boots are great in the rain and I like to compliment casual outfits with the many pairs of socks I have. The socks really accent the rest of the outfit!

Outfit 7: Skating Outfit

I skateboard a lot – it’s a great means of transportation to get around the city. When I need to be comfortable but also stay warm I wear some stretch denim and a warm hoodie. This pair of Jordans are good to skateboard in and the biggie smalls odd sox are my favorite pair of socks that I own. The socks also breath really well so that’s helpful when I am on my feet all day.
