dapperQ x Target Second Annual Young Adult Fashion Show at NYC Youth Pride

For a second year, dapperQ partnered with Target to produce a young adult (18-21 years of age) fashion show as part of NYC Pride’s 2018 sophomore Youth Pride event. The show featured 10 diverse LGBTQ youth who were each provided $100 Target gift cards to style a look that affirmed their identities and empowered them as the future leaders of our communities. Youth shopped at Target Harlem with the production team, who supported the youth in completing their full Target look. A few of the looks included pieces from Target’s collaboration with the Museum of Ice Cream! The outfits were revealed during a runway show at NYC Youth Pride, the second official NYC Pride event that was geared towards teens and their families. “Now more than ever, it is imperative that we provide safe spaces and visibility for LGBTQ youth,” states Anita Dolce Vita, the show’s Executive Producer. “Our community needs to rally around our youth to deliver positive messages of love, pride, and acceptance in a climate that is increasingly hostile towards them. I couldn’t have been more honored to have partnered with Target and shared this experience with my fellow queer style experts and show Co-Producers, Alithea Castillo and Kim Geronimo, to create a platform where our youth are celebrated!”

NYC Youth Pride was a multi-media event, including music by rising 12 year old twin DJs Amira and Kayla; dance and drag performances; and experiential empowerment activations by GLSEN, M.A.C. Cosmetics, and more. Opening remarks were made by Tyler Ford, and Miss J. of America’s Next Top Model stopped by for the second year in a row to show love for Youth Pride!

Check out video and photos documenting the entire experience, from shopping to runway rehearsal to the red carpet reveals. Incredible thanks goes to our core production team: Anita Dolce Vita (dapperQ), Alithea Castillo (Stylist), Kim Geronimo (Photographer/Videographer) Sara Geffrard (Influencer), Angel Zheng (Runway Coordinator), and Senka (dapperQ).  dapperQ gives special recognition to Target, NYC Pride, M.A.C. Cosmetics, and MKG for the time and effort they contributed to making this show a hit!
