Digital Casting: Models, Designers, and Volunteers for Annual NYFW Show at Brooklyn Museum

dapperQ will be hosting our seventh annual New York Fashion Week show at Brooklyn Museum on Thursday, September 10, 2020. The show  will feature 8-10 designers whose work is systemically rooted in gender non-conformity.

We are currently seeking designers, models, and volunteers to be a part of this incredible event that has become a cornerstone of celebrating fashion and identities in our communities.

Designers:
Interested designers can find the application here:

DESIGNER APPLICATION 2020

Note: dapperQ now receives more designer applications then we have slots for the show. To ensure fair review of applications, decisions are made by a panel. Only cut and sew designers with full collections will be considered, as we do not currently have the space or legal capacity to showcase stylists pulling from other brands or brands that focus on creating only one item, such as shoes, accessories, t-shirts, etc.

Models:
Designers are responsible for casting their own volunteer models. However, dapperQ is currently hosting a digital casting until May 1, 2020 to assist with the casting process. All submissions will be shared with the designers who will have the final say in their own casting for their respective collections.

– Head shot, portfolio, or high resolution head-to-toe body shot;
– Body measurements including neck, chest, arm length, hips, and inseam in inches

*Please note that designers cast their own models depending on their needs and capacity. Our digital lookbook serves as s supplement to designers’ outreach. dapperQ does not have the final say in the casting of 70+ models for this event. Your information will be shared with the designers via the digital lookbook. Designers will make the final determination regarding who is cast to represent their collections.

All shapes, sizes, and gender presentations and expressions welcome!

Volunteers:
The show does not generate any profit and the entire production team is made up of volunteers, like you! We would not be able to pull this show together for the community without the help of volunteers. Currently, we are seeking volunteers for a variety of roles, including, but not limited to:

– VIP seating ushers
– VIP/Press check-in
– Press ushers
– dapperQ Brand Ambassadors for information table
– Designer assistants
– Hair and makeup artists
– Event, runway, step & repeat, and photo booth photographers
– Event videographer
– Social media hype people
– Tech support
– …and much, much more

We provide snacks and beverages, as well as references for working on a major production at a world renowned museum. Additionally, volunteers get all the behind the scenes access, including to areas only available to producers, museum staff, designers, and models! If you are interested in being a part of our awesome queer crew, please fill out the VolunQueer application here.
