The Highland Park
Summer drinks are simple, refreshing combinations of vodka and lemonade, whiskey sodas and the like. Autumn, on the other hand, is a time for complexity and layers of flavors that mirror the dishes that represent this time of the year. The Highland Park is a whiskey based cocktail made for just this season. And shrubs are the stars of this drink.
Shrubs?
Yes, a classic vinegar based fruit syrup. Shrubs are seeing a revival in cocktail bars across the country. This recipe calls for a peach and cherry shrub (made from last summer’s fruitful bounty), but you can choose your favorite flavor. Get a collection of handmade shrubs from Shrub & Co shipped to your door or try your hands at making your own creation with the help of Shrubs: An Old Fashioned Drink for Modern Times.
