Seven Days of Dapper: Marcia Alvarado

dapperQ is back with a brand new Seven Days of Dapper! This week we’re featuring a week’s worth of style from one of our favorite queer models: Marcia Alvarado. *Photos by Leandro Gongora

Bio:
It’s Marcia here for an opportunity to showcase my OWN personal style. Throughout my life, I have transformed my style from typical “tomboy” – t-shirts and jeans with the knees worn out – to a more “ruggish” style in high school. As a college student-athlete, it was all about the studying and sports, which led to a more sports inspired style.

After fours years of collegiate basketball and earning my civil engineering degree, I headed to NYC for my first structural engineering opportunity. I think I had only about three pairs of dress pants and a few dress shirts from various stores. With barely enough clothes to last me a week in a professional office, I had to start increasing my wardrobe. The one idea that I gravitated to was that perception was everything. So, I started people watching: from the streets, to the subways to my actual own office. My dapperQ style was born of of this experience.

My style is always involving and going through slight variations that reflect my personal growth. I would define my personal style as sophisticated and always polished.
