On Friday, June 17, 2016 at 7pm, dapperQ, HBO, and NewFest co-presented an advanced, VIP invite-only screening of Suited, a new HBO documentary, which will air Monday, June 20, 2016 on HBO. Suited, produced by Lena Dunham (Girls) and Jenni Konner, and directed by Jason Benjamin, tells the story of Bindle & Keep, a Brooklyn tailoring company that makes custom suits for gender-nonconforming and transgender clients. Among those sharing their unique stories are a trans Bar Mitzvah boy, a New York City cab driver, a young southern law student and a transgender man preparing for his wedding. The film spotlights the intimate journey of coming into a new identity, accepting differences, and living bravely in one’s own skin.
A post-screening Talkback with director Jason Benjamin and Bindle & Keep’s Daniel Friedman was moderated by the Editor-in-Chief of dapperQ, Anita Dolce Vita, and was followed by a reception on HBO’s Terrace. The event was attended by prominent members of the community, including celebrity models Rain Dove, Elliott Sailors, and Casey Legler; Alex Berg of the Huffington Post; designers Auston Bjorkman (Sir New York), Angie Chuang, and Daniel Friedman (Bindle & Keep); and fashion bloggers Sara Geffrard (A Dapper Chick), Danielle Cooper (She’s a Gent), and Gabrielle Royal (dapperQ and Brown Boi Images). Photographers Doreen Pierre of DapperPenniless Photography and Tanja Vesna Vulin captured this star-studded evening.

Special thanks go out to our presenting partners The Tenth and hello mr., as well as supporters Ace Hotel New York.
Ahh you all are so lucky to have experienced the film at a screening. The documentary was so powerful and really shed light on our daily struggles to get dressed. I’m so thankful to have a wife who keeps me in the know of all things gender queer!
