A reader asks:
“I’ve been dating this girl for a really long time and have been thinking about proposing. The thing is, she is a very masculine lesbian and tends to lean more towards guys style. I know she would much rather like a more masculine ring, but her ring size is 5.5 and I just don’t know where to find a men’s style ring that is that small. Any suggestions?”
Ah ha! Finally, a fit concern that is an easy fix. Believe it or not, most rings are easy to size down. Resizing is very common (regardless of the style on the gender spectrum), because many people’s fingers are “between” sizes. Furthermore, people often like one-of-a-kind heirloom (e.g., grandma’s ring) and/or vintage engagement and wedding rings that are not always available in their size. As dapperQ contributor Joelle and Qwear founder Sonny explain on “Tell It to a Butch” on radio KVRX (at mark 3:40), it is easier to get a ring sized down than to have it sized up.
