Day 1: Family Visit

Family is very important to me, so I make it a point to visit often. Since my parents’ house will always be home, I dress for maximum comfort but still dapper enough that I’ll be ready for anything that pops up. I always bring my duffel bag with me because I may decide to stay over for mom’s breakfast the next morning.

Day 2: Date Night

Sometimes it’s nice to go out after work and talk about my day with my lady over dinner and drinks after a nice walk in the park. I try not to go too casual, but also not too overdone, especially since we would likely go to a more casual place during the week.

Day 3: Lunch Meeting

The work week can get hectic, and in order to maximize my days and still make the time to build great working relationships with my customers, I like to schedule lunch meetings. Lunch meetings are usually business casual, and since it is getting warm out, I would typically go with a lighter sportcoat and switch things up with light colored wingtips.

Day 4: The Speaking Engagement

I often need to give presentations in front of a large room, sometimes upwards of 250 people. Since it’s important to present myself as well as I present my topic, I know I can’t go wrong with a nice dark-colored suit. The pops of color add personality but are not distracting to the audience… Have you ever watched a speaker and thought, “What the heck are they wearing?!” I bet you barely heard what they were saying because all you could concentrate on was the distracting element. Having been a member and Club President of Toastmasters, I learned that one of the key aspects of commanding a room is looking the part, and a well-tailored suit certainly helps.

Day 5: Happy Hour!

Considering that I work from home when I’m not driving around to meetings, post-work happy hour is a great way to stretch my legs after a long day of sitting at my desk. Even though it is warm out, it still has been getting chilly in the evenings, so the lightweight sportcoat is a great option.

Day 6: Road Trippin’!

On the weekends, it’s time to let loose. Sometimes I like to take a road trip with friends to a nearby city, like New York or Washington, D.C. And of course, there will be plenty of shenanigans along the way. Dressing for comfort is important, but so is style. Since chambray is one of my favorite warm-weather fabrics and blue is my favorite color, this effortless combo works perfectly no matter what the situation.

Day 7: The Wedding Suit

A wedding is always a momentous occasion, and of course I want to look my best… but I also need to be ready to get down on the dance floor. At some point, I need to be ready to take off the jacket and tie, especially since it might get a little warm while I am mingling and dancing.
